Vocational High Schools, A Pressing Issue for Our Country
The purpose of the “Vocational High Schools, A Pressing Issue for Our Country” (MLMM) project is to provide support for allowing admission of successful graduates of the elementary education with limited means to Vocational High Schools where skilled personnel are educated for industrial, computer and service sectors, increasing knowledge, skills and qualifications of such young people by creating apprenticeship opportunities and educating qualified technical personnel needed by the economy under the “Vocational – Technical Education Encouragement Program” initiated by the Koç Group in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education.
With the scope of the MLMM Project, successful vocational school students in 81 provinces with limited financial means are given scholarships by the Vehbi Koç Foundation, are provided with coaching by employees of the companies in the Koç Group and provided with apprenticeship and employment opportunities at the group companies. In this context, just as any other Koç Group company, Yapı Kredi employees contribute to the Project on a voluntary basis as Vocational School Coach.
The Yapı Kredi employees undertook 42 Vocational High Schools in 2009 – 2010 Academic Year. Students who are given scholarships at the selected schools are provided coaching by the Yapı Kredi employees for the rest of their lives.
The Vocational High School Coaches contact with the vocational high schools undertaken by their companies, and first conduct the selection interviews of scholarship students. In the next stage, they regularly meet with the selected students throughout the year and implement education modules. In addition, the Vocational High School Coaches keep in contact with the scholarship students and help apprenticeship matching.
In 2009, Yapı Kredi has provided apprenticeship opportunity at its branches for 85 scholarship students who are included in the program.
