Initiated in February 2006, the aim of the project is to draw attention to the ageing problem that our country will face in the near future and to lead the country to be prepared for problems related to the demographic changes. The Old Age Research Center (65+) conducts a research and studies towards perceiving old age as a period to be lived in a joyful and planned manner, not as the end of life. The activities of the Old Age Research Center (65+) are as follows:
- An analysis of the research carried out in Turkey on old age, as well as common practices were reviewed and compiled to form literature.
- GFK Turkey conducted two studies on “The World of The Elderly”, a qualitative survey and a quantitative research based on the findings of the qualitative one, about the perception of old age in Turkey, and the problems faced by the elder people in Turkey.
- A public website, www.yaslilikrehberi.org.tr, was established. Updated monthly, the site contains information about the social dimension of old age and other various topics. A survey entitled “The Elderly Younger than the Youth” was conducted.
- Short questionnaires to acquire basic data were conducted by Yapi Kredi Emeklilik sales team.
- A brochure of “Home Accidents” with a series of safety tips for the elderly was printed and distributed.
- In collaboration with Yildiz Technical University and Turkish Education Volunteers Foundation (TEGV), the Computerized Training Program for Adults Project was initiated.
