Pursuant to its corporate citizenship principle, Yapı Kredi cares not only for culture, art and education but also for the conservation of the environment.
Believing that environmental conservation is the basis for the future of the world and Turkey, Yapı Kredi has taken action for the forests destroyed during the forest fire in Gülnar, Mersin. Within the scope of the “700,000 saplings in 7 regions” reforestation project started as part of the Koç Group’s “Forests for My Country” program and executed with the collaboration of TEMA and Ministry of Forestry, Yapı Kredi is creating a forest of 100,000 trees in Gülnar, Mersin.
Supporting reforestation by itself will not be enough to prevent environmental degradation; Yapı Kredi has decided not to produce any promotional materials like calendars or diaries for 2009 under its “Save Paper” project.
Using electronic greeting cards for religious holidays and New Year and electronic bank statements since 2007, Yapı Kredi saves 3,150 tons of paper and 55,000 trees a year. Furthermore, it sends 942 tons of paper to related institutions to be recycled.
