The Loner at Lake Leman is a collection of experimental works by Uğur Kökden, where he describes not only the wealth of natural beauties of Switzerland, but delves into its heritage of historical culture and the social aspects of life that are available and organized for the residents. Kökden takes us through the streets as if we were on a guided tour while pointing out the cultural events available as well as adding anecdotes of historical facts. He also explains the special aspects of Switzerland as a country that has evolved into a country that is a home to world citizens and how they host; provide rights and services to all the foreigners residing in their country. The world citizens Switzerland has hosted include many famous writers, political figures, artists such as Rousseau, Nâzım, Hemingway, Lenin, Holbein, Brecht, Thomas Mann, Silone, Borges, Musil and Chaplin, some of whom became permanent settlers, others resided here temporarily and yet some were merely taking sanction as refugees in this unique country. |
